Notes in Nine - Episode 2 - Busting the Rip and Replace Myth

Category NotesInNine
I've uploaded the second episode of Notes in Nine to iTunes and YouTube this morning. Again the topic is XPages, but there will be other topics!  This show tries to deal with the question "is it really necessary to re-write your existing applications to take advantage of XPages?"

It's on iTunes right now and ready to go.  I did make a change to the format to try and make it viewable via AppleTV.  The first episode didn't work.

YouTube has the video as well, but they take a little while to process the video for HD conversion.

For fun I found a little intro video that I thought looked really neat.  It's still being tweaked, but since I had it I wanted to use it right away.

This one seemed to be more difficult to create then the first one for some reason.  I think I was so worried about getting the information under 10 minutes, I actually went too fast.  Hopefully I'll improve with more practice.

Anyway, if there's any comments or suggestions please let me know.  Especially regarding technical issues.  I do record the video at 1280x720 so the text in DDE is hopefully readable.

Thanks!

UPDATE: Here is the YouTube link.

Notes Screencast on iTunes

Category NotesInNine
I just got confirmation that my new screencast, Notes In Nine, is now available via iTunes!!

They said it might not be searchable for 1 day or so but I was about to find it by searching for "Lotus Notes" or "Notes in Nine"

A picture named M2

If you can't find it then try this link:

http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=323522943

Please check it out!  Hopefully I'll figure out iTunes enough to change the image and make sure everything looks nice and neat.

I will still be publishing my screencasts on youTube so you'll have a choice.  I actually am hosting the files on screencast.com, I think there's a way to view/get them from there as well.

If anyone has any quality problems or other feedback please let me know!

Thanks!

Notes in Nine Demo file

Category NotesInNine
I want to thank everybody for all the interest and great feedback on the "Notes in Nine" Screen Cast.  I really appreciate it!  I've got some more development stuff coming soon and I'm going to do some End User type videos as well so stay tuned. If anyone has any suggestions for topics please let me know.

Also I'm really interested in the video quality, whether it was clear and readable or not.  It looked fine on my Mac but I didn't try at a lower resolution (1024x768) yet.  It did not look good on my AppleTV using the youTube menu option so I'll try and make some adjustments.  I will look into getting this on iTunes so that might help to get a higher quality file out.

For those who couldn't get a good look at the code, here's the file that I used.  Probably the most interesting thing is the CSS, which was taken from the IBM Profiles application (SHOW 106 for those of us who sat through the long session at Lotusphere 09).  I did add some code to get the blocks to work better in IE.

On a final note, Bruce Elgort, (I'm not sure when he finds time to sleep) has started a new group blog over at:

XPagesBlog.com

Please check that out!

Thanks again for watching the screencast!
