LotusKnows
Yesterday was the official launch of the
Lotus Knows marketing campaign. Ads should start appearing in various print
and online publications right away and the new lotusknows.com website is
launching TODAY!
Just a few of the places where the adds
might start appearing are:
Wired, Business Week, Wall Street Journal,
Boston Globe, ESPN.com, CNN.com, ABCNews.com, and Google/Yahoo of course.
Another advertising area that I'm rather
interested in is what they call the "Out of Home" plan. This
deals with advertising that you might see away from your home. For example,
there's going to be a push in certain airports to place signage near the
Flight Information screens as well as sponsoring free wi-fi. I'm looking
forward to seeing these "In the Wild". They even have a
tour bus all decked out for the campaign.
And of course there's the website. lotusknows.com. The website comes in 2
flavors. An HTML version and a full screen Flash version. The
full Flash version is the site to try. It loaded fast and it looks great!
It looks VERY well done.
I LOVED seeing a section on the website
called "Lotus Experts". What do they have there? Links
to LotusUserGroup.org and PlanetLotus!! It's great to see IBM/Lotus
really starting to embrace the community with first the OpenNTF efforts,
then with the IdeaJam, and now giving the community very nice recognition
on the website. Heck they even integrated Twitter into the site. Click
on "Try Lotus" and you'll see tweets with the hashtag #lotusknows.
I also really like how you can get to
the trial software right from the lotusknows.com site. Anything that
makes playing with the software easier for prospective users is a good
thing if you ask me.
I'm looking forward to seeing how this
works out. We've been waiting for something for a long time to help
get the word out and I think this is a really good first start.
UPDATE:
Ads have been spotted today in the Wall
street Journal and the Boston Globe print editions.

This morning I had the opportunity to participate
on the Blogger Briefing call regarding the upcoming "Lotus Knows"
campaign. This has been summed up by a number of of posts on Planet
Lotus already. Probably John's article
is the most detailed that I've seen so far.
I'm excited about this because not only
is Lotus making a major marketing push, which is something many of us have
wanted for a long time, but they're going with their strength - Collaboration.
In the upcoming IdeaJam we'll be able
to share ideas and stories and help get the message across.
How cool is that? We've been asking
for Marketing efforts and they are not only giving it to us but asking
for us to help! Sounds like this is exactly what we've been wanting. Please
register at IdeaJam and post your ideas or comment on others. Now is the
time to get off the sidelines and participate.
